Are lawyers in New York board certified, like doctors are?

A: No. There are no certifying boards like doctors have. There are certain types of specialty boards in different states. Some lawyers have been trying to get their colleagues to set up a similar system as the doctors have to insure that there is a standardized format for handling certain types of cases. The problem is that each state has their own requirements for lawyers.
