I received an email the other day from a man who wanted to know whether an attorney who didn't have a web site was a good attorney, despite getting many recommendations from friends and relatives that he was the only attorney to use.

Interestingly, this man felt that every attorney needed to have a web site. He concluded that something was wrong with this lawyer because he didn't have one. He was clearly confused by the fact that so many people had recommended him. I replied that there are many attorneys who do not advertise. There must have been some reason why this lawyer didn't have a website, and told him he should specifically ask the lawyer why he didn't have a website. I also told him that I could not come to any conclusions about whether the attorney was good or bad solely on the fact that he did not have a website.
