600G in allergy-shot suit BY CHRISENA COLEMAN DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER The husband of a Bronx mom who died after having an allergic reaction to her weekly allergy shot will receive $600,000 in a court settlement with the doctor. Miriam Rolon, 37, who was allergic to pets, ragweed and dust, had just received her weekly allergy shot at her doctor's office on April 26, 1997, when, according to court documents, she had difficulty breathing, started coughing and complained of tightness in her chest. Dr. David Rosenzweig gave Rolon an injection of epinephrine, but within 10 minutes she lost consciousness. Rolon, who had been treated by Rosenzweig for the previous six months, was taken by ambulance from his office to nearby Montefiore Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead a short time later. Her husband, Guillermo Rolon, filed a medical malpractice and wrongful death suit against Rosenzweig and Montefiore in Bronx Supreme Court. During pretrial hearings, the suit against Montefiore was dropped. Joyce Randazzo, Guillermo Rolon's attorney, declined to comment. In court papers, she claimed that Rosenzweig should have examined Miriam Rolon before administering the allergy shot and that he improperly administered the epinephrine injection. Two days into the trial, the defense settled the case for the $600,000.
