Jury Awards Stabbing Victim's Family $10 Million Civil Trial Continues In Indian Hill Stabbing (8/15/05) Reported by: 9News Web produced by: Neil Relyea Photographed by: 9News 8/20/2005 11:23:32 AM A Hamilton County jury is holding the parents of a teenage boy who stabbed a 13-year-old girl responsible for their son's actions. On Friday jurors awarded the victim's family $10 million. That would make for second largest award ever in Hamilton County. Ben White, 20, is already serving 10 years for attempted murder and felonious assault. It was back in July 2003 when White was in a rage, out of control after a fight with his brother. That's when he came across a 13-year-old girl jogging in Indian Hill. He repeatedly stabbed her. She barely survived the attack. Attorney Stan Chesley represented the victim's family in the civil suit. Chesley says White's parents should have done more to control their son. "He had prescriptions for medications and wouldn't take them and the parents wouldn't push it. He went to a couple doctors and they claimed they were giving him good care," said Chesley, "then it came out these problems started when he was in the fifth grade and they didn't do anything about it." Chesley says White's parents were home and witnessed their son out of control just before the attack. They even refused to drive him back home after he stormed out of the house. Chesley says this is a wake up call for all parents and that this case could have far reaching implications. White's family had no comment but they do plan to appeal.
