Jury awards widow $5 million in lawsuit BLOOMINGTON -- A Bloomington woman whose late husband died from cancer caused by asbestos exposure was awarded more than $5 million in a wrongful death lawsuit Monday in McLean County civil court. A jury found that Honeywell International Inc. is responsible for damages in the recent death of 69-year-old Merlan Dukes. Dukes was exposed to asbestos when he worked at the old UNARCO plant on Bloomington's west side in the 1950s.
