The case centered on the death of jail inmate Charles Agster. Agster was arrested for trespassing at a convenience store, but 45 minutes later he was dead in the Madison Street Jail. The jury awarded Agster's family nine million dollars this afternoon for wrongful death and violating Agster's civil rights.
