Sued doctor writes manual

Sued doctor writes manual Richard Oakley THE New York doctor being sued by the family of an Irishwoman who died after undergoing a face-lift operation has written a new book extolling his virtues as a plastic surgeon. Michael Evan Sachs, the medic who operated on Kay Cregan, the Limerick mother of two who died in March last year, has penned Mastering Revision Rhinoplasty, a book that is likely to add to the controversy surrounding his practice. Described as a medical “compendium of ideas”, he says it is based on his experience of treating people who need repairs carried out on nose-jobs or rhinoplasties they have already undergone with another surgeon. Sachs has been involved in more than 30 malpractice cases and has been banned from performing “complex nasal procedures” without the supervision of a second physician. However, he claims his new book will allow other surgeons to master the techniques he believes he has pioneered. Sachs’s reputation was questioned in Ireland last year after Cregan, 42, died following standard cosmetic surgery. A subsequent examination found complications from her face-lift played a part in her death. Sachs, who has appeared on Irish television and in print media in a bid to attract patients from Ireland, is currently being sued by Cregan’s husband Liam, who has hired an American medical malpractice lawyer. Sachs did not return a call from The Sunday Times this weekend.
