It was a 'simple' procedure, her doctor told her.

Routine.

Same day.

In and out ambulatory surgery.

"You need this," he reassured her.

Except he shouldn't have done the surgery in the first place. It should have been done by a general surgeon.

An unexpected bowel injury caused the surgeon to remove the damaged part of the bowel. Except, we argued, that the bowel repair should have been done by a general surgeon or a bowel surgeon instead of the gyn cancer surgeon.

Since the bowel was not properly repaired, the patient developed a massive infection that nobody recognized. That led to an emergency surgery to find out what was going on with her and the realization she was deathly ill.

Learn what happened when the surgeon went back in to operate on her belly.
