Kevin Bell had just come back from a night out with friends. However instead of making it inside of the house he ended up lying in the middle of the road.

Bell had just immigrated from Ireland about 10 months ago and was working construction jobs. He loved New York and hoped to be able to stay here. According to his friends, the avid soccer player could always put a smile on your face.

Bell was laughing and joking around with friends at a bar on the upper West Side when he decided to go home. He took a cab home alone but oddly enough instead of making it home he was found a few blocks away.  When his roommates and friends got home at 3 a.m. they realized Bell wasn’t home.

27-year-old Kevin Bell drunkenly passed out on 233rd St in Woodlawn where he was later run over by a minivan.

A deli security camera recorded the entire event, Bell laid down on his back and put his hands behind his head and then the car ran over him. Bell’s entire body rolled over due to the impact, but the minivan kept driving. As of now, authorities are unaware whether or not the driver is aware that he hit Bell because the roadway was not well illuminated.

It is difficult to believe that the driver wasn’t aware that he hit a person; driving over a person isn’t exactly the same thing as hitting a pot hole.

According to the New York Daily News, when the medical examiner van arrived at the scene, workers had to push aside a big bag of recyclable bottles to make room for the body in the back of the vehicle. A spokeswoman for the city medical examiner couldn’t explain what the bottles were doing there.

This lack of professionalism should be closer scrutinized. Bell even in death, deserved respect, not to be thrown in the trunk with the garbage.
