One of the most popular foods in America has been recalled: Kraft Mac and Cheese. Kids across the country love to eat Kraft Velveeta and Cheeseburger Mac every day but now these foods are being taken off the shelves. The company was forced to recall 1.77 million products of its Velveeta Macaroni products.

Kraft recalled Velveeta macaroni after serious allergens were said to be found in the product. The manufacturing company failed to make it apparent that there are allergens in the substance.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) made a statement saying that the product must be recalled. They found that the Velveeta macaroni and some ground beef products have soy protein and dry soy sauce in them and these ingredients are not listed on the package. This issue is serious because these products are known to possibly cause allergies/allergic reactions.
The items being recalled include Kraft Velveeta Cheesy Skillets, and Cheeseburger Mac; no other products have been listed for recall yet. It is unclear whether any of the products have caused an allergic reaction thus far. “They have a use by/sell by date of March 2, 2014 through Oct. 23, 2014. The items were sold in stores between May 6, 3024 and Jan. 16, 2014 and were also sent to Kraft Food distribution centers. Around 525,000 cases of the product are affected. FSIS said the company became aware of the problem when they realized that a label manufacturer accidentally sent labels with the wrong ingredients mixed in with the correct labels,” according to CBS. The FSIS is urging anyone who feels like they might be having an allergic reaction to immediately contact a doctor or go to a hospital.
