You're deciding on which lawyer is right for you. You know you need a medical malpractice lawyer in New York and you're talking to a few different attorneys.

Here are two key questions you should be asking every lawyer you are considering hiring.

The first is to ask them about their losses. Why?

Simple. Most attorneys don't like to talk about them and will not want to talk about the cases they have lost.

If they are truly an experienced trial attorney, they will have experienced the agony of defeat in the courtroom at some point in their career. It does not mean that they are not a good attorney. Quite the contrary. A jury may simply have decided that they did not like the facts presented by the injured victim. They may not like the injured victim. There are many reasons why a jury will reject a claim.

However, it's very important to find out whether the trial attorney is willing to discuss his losses and explain why he may have lost a case despite doing everything right.

NEXT QUESTION

The next question involves asking the attorney who he would recommend as a trial attorney if he had this particular case. The answer will be very revealing to see whether the lawyer freely gives you other lawyers he would recommend in the event you choose not to use him.
