Here's a fact:

Nobody needs a medical malpractice attorney if they hadn't been injured by a doctor or hospital.

Nobody.

Nobody spends their day searching for the best lawyer in New York to represent them unless they believe a doctor violated the basic standards of medical care causing them injury.

Nobody.

Nobody asks their friends and family members for the name of a trusted attorney who handles medical malpractice matters here in New York unless they walked into a hospital perfectly fine and came out paralyzed.

Nobody.

The only reason you would be looking for an attorney to help solve your legal problems involving improper medical care would be if you suffered a significant injury as a result of improper medical care by a doctor or hospital staff. That's a fact.

I will share a little secret with you...

When I was growing up, I had no idea what a lawyer was.

I had no idea what a lawyer did.

We never had any need for an attorney...until we did.

I remember when my parents bought their first house, I was nine years old and I heard something about a lawyer having to sign lots of papers in order for my parents to buy their house. Little did I know that it was my parents who were signing all those papers and not the attorney.

When I was 14, my dad died and my mom firmly believed that his death was a direct result of improper medical care at a hospital.

That's when she went looking for the best medical malpractice attorney in New York. That's when she began asking friends and family for recommendations. I still had no idea what an attorney did or even what a medical malpractice lawyer did.

You know the phrase “If I knew then what I knew now, I would've done things differently?” Well, that's actually true as my mom entered into her search for an attorney to represent us.

Remember, we didn't know any attorneys.

So what did she do? She reached out to her family for advice.

One of her sisters knew a really good attorney. Coincidentally, he happened to be one of the best lawyers in New York. He was one of the best personal injury lawyers. People said he was one of the best medical malpractice lawyers too. Years earlier, he had achieved the very first million dollar verdict in the United States for an injured victim.

The fact is that nobody needs a trial attorney until they need a trial attorney.

You go about your day taking care of your family obligations, work obligations without concern for what other trades and professions do unless and until you need them.

Nobody needs a medical malpractice attorney unless you are the victim of medical incompetence that caused you significant harm.

Having been in practice for more than 26 years here in New York I came to realization long ago that the majority of people in New York simply have no need for medical malpractice lawyer. And that's a good thing for them.

But what if one day you recognize that a doctor has not treated you appropriately? What if, as a result of that medical care and treatment, you suffered injury that you believe to be permanent? What can you do about it?

Are you going to simply accept the fact that this is fate and that was meant to happen?

Are you going to take a stand and recognize that even educated professionals must take responsibility for their actions?

Are you aware that if a doctor was careless at a particular day and at a particular time and that carelessness caused you injury, according to the law in New York you should be compensated for all the harms and injuries you suffered. That's a fact.

What about proof?

Of course, we need to be able to show that you are more likely right than wrong that the doctor violated the basic standards of medical care.

We also need to show that you are more likely right that wrong than that the doctor's carelessness was a cause of your injury.

We then need to show that your injuries are significant and/or permanent.

In all likelihood the only reason you're reading this article is because you are searching for a medical malpractice attorney for the injuries you suffered or someone in your family suffered.

When you wake up in the morning and get dressed to go to work, you're not thinking about hiring a medical malpractice lawyer if the treatment you received from your doctors was outstanding.
