Do you suffer from headaches and migraines quite often? You are not alone. Countless Americans face painful migraines every day but researchers have come up with a great new way to treat them.
CBS news reports on the healing headband.
The new headache healer consists of a headband that is said to work wonders for those suffering from migraines.
This is the first ever medical device invented to treat and prevent migraines. The Food and Drug Administration proudly approved of it and is endorsing the device. The FDA is saying the headband is a particularly good option for those who cannot take migraine medications or prefer not to take them.
CBS explains how the device works...
“The Cefaly device is a battery-powered plastic band worn across the forehead. Using an adhesive electrode, the band emits a low electrical current to stimulate nerves associated with migraine pain. Users may feel a tingling sensation on the skin where the electrode is applied. The device is designed to be used no more than 20 minutes a day by patients 18 years and older.”
Researchers and scientists conducted a formal study to ensure that the device is safe and effective. The device cannot prevent all migraines but it certainly reduces the number of migraines patients experience. “A 67-person study reviewed by the FDA showed patients using the device experienced fewer migraines per month than patients using a placebo device. The Cefaly headband did not completely eliminate migraine headaches or reduce the intensity of migraines that occurred,” according to CBS.
CBS reports on the results of the study...“About 53 percent of 2,313 patients in a separate study said they were satisfied with the device and were willing to purchase it for future use. No serious adverse events were connected with the device.”
