Two men living in Manhattan happened to have accidents on Tuesday that caused them to sever their fingers. Both men called 911 for emergency medical services but only one of the men had an ambulance come. The first man called around eleven thirty in the morning from Harlem saying a man needed aid for a severed finger on Second Avenue. A few minutes later they got another call saying a man needed help for a severed finger on Second Avenue in the Upper East Side. EMS claim that they did not go to the second man’s house because his address was so similar to the first man’s that they thought they had already picked up the only victim with a severed finger.

Dispatchers were under the impression that the second call was a mistake because it was so similar to the first call concerning a severed finger so they did not send out a second ambulance.
